A comprehensive eye exam includes an eyeglass prescription, ocular disease screening, and virtual reality peripheral vision testing. We care about your eye health, so please expect to have your eyes dilated. Your exam will take approximately an hour. Check out our eye care services!

Soft and Specialty Contact Lenses & Fittings
Dr. Eckhart has extensive experience fitting scleral lenses and hard gas permeable contacts. She utilizes combination of corneal topography and OCT imaging to ensure the best fit for a range of complicated corneal conditions.
Children that are nearsighted or have a family member with nearsightedness can be fit with myopic control lenses. These lenses slow the development of nearsightedness and can lead to a lifetime of better vision. Dr. Eckhart is proud to offer this option for our school age patients.
Modern Eye offers a wide range of soft contact lenses. Dr. Eckhart fits patients with daily, astigmatism, and multifocal lenses. You can often leave the office with trial lenses the same day as your appointment. Modern Eye offers rebates for many popular contact brands.

Ocular Disease Management
Dr. Eckhart brings over a decade of experience diagnosing and caring for patients’ ocular diseases. Her experience includes managing the care of patients’ glaucoma, macular degeneration, cataracts, and dry eye disease, amongst numerous other retinal diseases. Modern Eye utilizes cutting-edge ocular imaging instruments to provide individualized ocular disease management. Dr. Eckhart knows many systemic diseases first manifest in the eyes. Screening for diabetes, high blood pressure, multiple sclerosis and numerous auto-immune diseases is an important part of regular eye care and disease management.

In a world where every eye doctor stocks the same products from the same monopoly it's rare to find a place both covered by insurance and with affordable frames from independently owned brands. The store was was fairly small but thoughtfully curated with a wide variety of different styles. The service and exam themselves was great. The doctor was nice and gave me a more thorough exam than I am used too. I don't remember ever having my depth perception assessed by prior doctors. Highly recommended if you are in need of an eye exam or just searching for frames.

Conveniently located in the Fire Blocks District in downtown Dayton you will find our FREE off-street parking easy to access and your trip to our office a breeze.
We offer FREE, off-street parking at our lot at 48 S. Jefferson St. There is currently no sign, but we’re working on it! Please bring the ticket from the parking box into our office and we will happily validate your parking during your appointment.
